It's been how long since the iPhone's release? It seems like years - I think it has been. Either way I'm pretty sick of seeing people try to draw comparisons of the iPhone and the new Nokia 5800. It's like comparing a pretty little poodle to a sophisticated labrador hunting dog. One is smart and the other isn't.
But what about the new Blackberry Storm vs. Nokia 5800. That seems like a better comparison to me. I find it interesting that Blackberry and Nokia released their touchscreen smartphones to the world and nearly the same time. You can already find a kazillion websites that go into great detail about each phone, so I'll just lay out the basic specs...

Looks like the camera specs will be nearly the same. I'm not sure if the 5800 will have a Carl Zeiss lens, if so that will help alot.
But it also depends on what's inside. Symbian S60 vs. RIM. Many love the Symbian S60 3rd Edition already, and will be dying to get their hands on the new Symbian S60 5th Edition which will be showcased on the 5800. With all the 3rd party applications already part of the Symbian S60 library, I'm sure Nokia fans will miss these. There's just so much you can do with a S60 device it's amazing. Uploading/Downloading to FTP accounts, viewing files on your computer while your away, the N-Gage platform, the list can go on and on. I haven't seen much on the new Blackberry touchscreen UI, but I'm sure the die hard Blackberry fans will love it. Of course your get the same great, reliable email service that Blackberry offers, hopefully Nokia can start working overtime on their new "Nokia Email Service" that's still in the beta testing phase.
People have always said that Nokia needs to close the gap between their smart "business" phones & smart "pleasure" phones, pretty much combine the Eseries and Nseries. Do you think Nokia has moved a step closer with the 5800? It's hard to say that the 5800 has moved closer to business, if anything it has stayed exactly where the rest of the Nseries is at. I think Blackberry is really trying to get to this convergence point with this upcoming phone.
What do you think? Is this a better comparison than all the Nokia vs. iPhone comparisons? Surely, die hard Nokia fans would rather own a Blackberry than an iPhone right?
What's next?

I work for Nokia and I am lucky enough to be testing the 5800. It does have a Carl Zeiss lens, a Tessar 2.8/3.7 3.2 megapixel. The camera is also autofocus.
Nokia 5800 looks like the best "phone" that can do so many other things nicely. Other devices like blackberry or iPhones are too wide and can not be used with one hand.
hi mark,
any idea when the 5800 is going to be released?
Off topic: I hope you meant the poodle is smart and the labrador isn't ?
Border Collies are believed by many who study dogs to be the smartest breed of dogs. Poodles come in a close second. Labrador ranks seventh.

I own an Nokia E71 and a large Poodle. Rather compare the Nokia (smart, sophisticated and fun to play with) with the poodle than a labrador (owned by many like the iPhone).
What an utterly pointless review. You've obviously tried neither. You're just cutting and pasting. I've been sent a Storm. It's pretty, but slow to the point of unusable.
I have had the pleasure of using both the new blackberry storm and the nokia 5800, and i have to say, without a doubt, i prefer the nokia 5800. I returned the blackberry storm. it is pretty to look and i agree with the previous comment, it is terribly slow. I activated the internet feature on the nokia 5800 and it works like a dream :)
well i think that the bb wins cuz of its like the gladiator of the smart phones as it the first phone with auto shift springs under the screen.
What about 5800's lag?
