Nokia Email Beta v.3 Released - Multiple Accounts Now Possible

The new Nokia Email Service has recently been updated to beta version 3. Thanks to this article by Gwapz of Mobile World Innovation, I first learned that this update would be coming yesterday. I first wrote about the roadmap for this new application and service being pushed by Nokia a few weeks ago, so you can go back and look at that article to see how their coming along.

Edit: Screenshots might not be loading. Please be patient.

I just downloaded this new version, and there are a few improvements that many have been hoping for, and a few features that are still missing...

Improvements I've Noticed

- Multiple Email Accounts are now possible. I haven't tried to add another email account yet since all my email addresses go to Gmail account, but the functionality is surely there. You can add another email address from the application or from the Nokia Email website.

- Better Email Synchronization has been implemented. I noticed this right off the bat. Comparing my Gmail inbox on the computer against my N82 is within about 15 seconds. Before it would take much longer.

- More Device Support including the Nokia N82, which oddly wasn't included before this release. The N78 is also supported.

What's STILL Missing In Nokia Email?

- Folder Synchronization still isn't here. I was hoping to have this so I can take advantage of my Gmail labels, like in the default email client. I don't even see Local folders on this new version, which is kind of a bummer.

- Corporate Email Support isn't yet ready, but it's coming soon. Check out the screenshot that I got after I tried to connect a Exchange account. Obviously this is good news.

- Calendar Synchronization is something that I'm hoping they add. I would love to have my Gmail calendar synchronize on the fly, or even synchronization with the new Ovi Calendar service, as Ricky mentioned in the comments.

- Peak Hours should be added, similar to the Mail For Exchange application. When I'm sitting at my computer during my day job, I don't need my phone to be checking email constantly. When I'm out to lunch, after work, weekends, is when I would like my email "always on". If we can schedule this, that would be great.

What else do you think should be added?

Make sure you head over to Beta Labs and leave your feedback.

Thanks for the headsup. However, I'm still getting the old version.

It should be ready within the next 12 hours, according to a Nokia Engineer who commented on the "Mobile World Innovation" article today. He said they will be phasing it in, and everyone should see it by the end of the day.

I did the upgrade but the client software is gone, no inbox to view messages. I can see the sync client but only have Help, Synd, Setting, options, again no inbox. Thoughts?

Seemed to get it working after serveral tries. I need to add an other account that was the same as my originally set up account and the sync gerenarted the client software inbox. Not sure why but it worked.
