Share On Ovi Gets An Update & Video Guide

Nokia introduced Share On Ovi to us awhile back ago to challenge the popular photo sharing website Flickr and provide a place for Nokia users to store their photos, videos, and files online. Since the introduction Ovi has been introducing new services and features here and there and listening to user's requests in their support forums.

Today they added a few features, one that I am very happy about. I've always thought they need more size options for viewing the images online. You now have the option to view images at medium, large, extra large, and original. The extra large size will show your images up to 1280 pixels wide. Ovi says, "New photos posted to Share will present the Extra Large view immediately. It will take some time to render the new size view for existing photos. Be on the lookout for the updated view of your media."

Also PicLens now works with Share On Ovi. PicLens introduces a new way to view images online and was first introduced to me by Al from The Nokia Blog (aka Dr. Tran from Hofo).

What Share On Ovi says about PicLens...

PicLens is an innovative and unique way to immerse yourself in the media viewing experience. Install PicLens to view and browse media on Share in a full screen, interactive mode. PicLens is easy to install and use. Visit www.piclens.com to download and install the plug-in. After installation, simply mouse over media on Share and click on the PicLens play button that appears in the lower left hand corner to view.

If you want more features added to Ovi, head to the support forums and give them your feedback. I've already asked for embed options for tags and even more sharing options for individual photos in public channels. Hopefully we get these. Oh and not to mention geofeed support for embedding photos on a map. This way I can finally ditch Flickr for good. Come on Nokia, I know you can do it.

A New Video Tour
They have FINALLY made a tour video of Share On Ovi. You can already find one on the Nokia website, but this one gives you more insight that is even helpful to experienced users. Click here to see the video.

Every day I get more excited about Share On Ovi. I find new uses and upload to it constantly. I'm sharing media with my friends and family faster than I ever have before. Like I said there are a few things that need to be implemented, but from the looks of it they are well on their way.

Are you enjoying Share On Ovi, or have you yet to try it?

What's next?
