Everyone has different solutions for there Gmail on their S60 phone. Setting up Gmail IMAP with my Nokia N95 or Nokia N73 is pretty simple using the instructions given directly from Google.

- Enable IMAP in your Gmail account settings.
- Select 'Messaging' > 'Options' > 'Settings' > 'E-mail' > 'Mailboxes.'

- Select 'Start' to begin the setup wizard.
- Select 'IMAP4' and then 'Next.'
- Enter your Gmail username (including '@gmail.com') as the email address and select 'Next.'

Gmail's IMAP vs. POP
The reason why I use Gmail's IMAP service is because it keeps your mail in sync between both devices, unlike POP setup. If I read an email on my phone, it shows as "read" on both my computer and phone. Same goes for the other way around. Check it on my computer, and it shows as "read" on my phone as well. You can set it to check your mail at different intervals, mine is set to 2 hours, unless I'm expecting an important email.

Got yr instrux and set it up, but this is what happens when using it: 1) connect/retrieve email 2)searching for available access point (home WLAN) 3) WLAN chosen 4) connecting to mailbox 5) OK to mailbox user name/password 6) OK to save user name/pw to mailbox settings and then it starts all over again. My Gmail setting has enabled Imap, so where is it going wrong?
that sounds like maybe you have a glitch in your phone. what phone are you using? those instructions were taken directly from Googles website, copied and pasted.
I have exactly the same problem kiran3355 is having. I'm using E61i with the latest firmware (2.0633).
Ignore that, I'm stupid.
I misremembered my password and after trying it too many times Google apparently locked me out, even when I used the correct password it didn't let me in. This helped.
On N73 it just trys to connect when retrieving the email and then says "server not found"
I have activated mobile access9(Gmail IMAP) provided by gmil on my nokia phone.Working well. Can somebody give the solution, if in case of mobile theft how to prevent Mail retrieval without changing password of the gmail account from computer net. Thus I want third party program that will ask password each time to open the gmail folder in mobile.
Or make the gmil folder in mobile invisible or encrypted.
Or there available setting itself as such in gmil provider.
I've set up the account as the instructions and retrieving mail works beautifully. however, I have as of yet (been trying for 2 full days) been unable to SEND mail from my N82. Help? my skype is daniel.consuegra or send an e-mail to daniel.consuegra@gmail.com. Thanks a bunch!
i have the same problem like you Daniel!! Have you fixed it?
